Gurugram: A 61-year-old patient from the United Kingdom has regained shoulder mobility and returned to an active lifestyle after undergoing a Reverse Shoulder Replacement at Artemis Hospital, Gurugram. Darryl Patrick Aldis, a long-time fitness enthusiast, sought treatment after living with persistent pain and restricted shoulder movement for nearly a year following a weight-training injury.

Medical evaluation revealed a massive rotator cuff tear with arthropathy, a condition in which conventional tendon repair was no longer a viable treatment option. Following assessment by Dr. IPS Oberoi, Chairperson – Orthopaedics Program & Chief – Robotic Joint Replacement & Arthroscopy Surgery, the patient underwent a reverse shoulder replacement procedure, which is commonly performed for patients with irreparable rotator cuff tears and advanced shoulder arthritis.

According to the hospital, the surgery was followed by a structured rehabilitation programme and personalised physiotherapy. The patient has since regained strength, improved shoulder mobility, and resumed his regular physical activities.
