Dahanu: The Model Rural Health Research Unit (MRHRU), Dahanu, organised a half-day Orientation-cum-Training Programme on Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) 2.0 on 3 July 2026 at the Vedanta Institute of Medical Sciences under the Precision-driven Response for Anemia Control and Sustainable Health (PRAKASH) study. The programme aimed to strengthen frontline capacity for the prevention and management of anaemia among adolescents.

Around 160 Ashram School wardens and public health nurses participated in the training, highlighting their important role in promoting adolescent health and implementing anaemia control initiatives at the community level.

The scientific sessions were led by Dr. Ragini Kulkarni, with Dr. Kiran Munne discussing the causes, risk factors, signs, and symptoms of anaemia. Dr. Beena Joshi highlighted evidence-based strategies for anaemia prevention and management, with a special focus on the Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS) Programme and the importance of adolescent reproductive and sexual health.The programme concluded with an interactive role-play and practical demonstration by the PRAKASH project team, illustrating anaemia management strategies at the Ashram school level. The session aimed to help participants translate theoretical knowledge into practical interventions for early detection, prevention, and effective management of anaemia.

MRHRU Dahanu stated that empowering frontline healthcare workers and school functionaries with the necessary knowledge and skills is essential for improving adolescent health outcomes and supporting the goals of the Anemia Mukt Bharat initiative through sustained community-based action.
