Mumbai: More than 300 surgeons, gastroenterologists, and postgraduate medical students from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and across Maharashtra attended the Anorectal Masterclass CME 2026 at Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai. The academic programme was organised in association with the Association of Colon and Rectal Surgeons of India (ACRSI) and the Navi Mumbai Surgical Society (NMSS).

Led by Dr. Nitish Jhawar, Senior Consultant – General, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeon at Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai, the CME featured expert lectures, panel discussions, and live surgeries showcasing advanced treatment for anorectal conditions such as haemorrhoids (piles), fissures, fistulas, and pilonidal sinus disease.

Participants observed advanced procedures including Laser Haemorrhoidoplasty, MIPH (Stapler Haemorrhoidopexy), Laser Piles, Laser Pilonidal Sinus, and the Bascom cleft lift technique. Scientific discussions also covered imaging in anorectal sepsis, management of anorectal abscesses, haemorrhoidectomy techniques, Botox therapy for fissures, and the management of complex anorectal complications.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Nitish Jhawar said anorectal disorders affect millions of people, but stigma and lack of awareness often delay treatment. He noted that the masterclass was designed to equip surgeons with evidence-based knowledge and minimally invasive surgical approaches that promote faster recovery and better patient outcomes.
