The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a ₹27 crore allocation for the establishment of 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals in six districts, along with funding for medical equipment. The announcement was made by Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar Yadav ahead of National Ayurveda Day 2026 as part of a broader plan to strengthen AYUSH infrastructure and expand access to traditional systems of healthcare in the state.

The proposed hospitals are intended to strengthen the availability of integrated AYUSH healthcare infrastructure at the district level. The term Integrated AYUSH Hospital refers to a hospital facility that brings together AYUSH systems such as Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy, depending on the services approved and established at a particular facility.

The development of such hospitals is also aligned with the broader National AYUSH Mission framework. The Ministry of AYUSH has provisions under the centrally sponsored National AYUSH Mission (NAM) for financial assistance to states and Union Territories for establishing 10-, 30- and 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals, including essential diagnostic facilities. States can seek this support through their approved State Annual Action Plans.

Along with the ₹27 crore allocation for the six proposed hospitals, Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned ₹4.11 crore for infrastructure and maintenance at the Integrated AYUSH Hospital in Visakhapatnam and ₹1.50 crore for Kakinada. The funding is part of a wider state-level investment in AYUSH hospitals, dispensaries and related healthcare infrastructure.

Official central government information published in December 2025 had already listed Kakinada's 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospital as construction completed and the 50-bed Visakhapatnam facility as under construction. The listed systems for these hospitals include Ayurveda, homoeopathy, yoga and naturopathy.

The state has also earmarked more than ₹46.23 crore for upgrading AYUSH dispensaries. The proposed expenditure covers areas such as civil works, medical equipment, furniture and digital networking.

The funding programme also includes provisions for free medicines, development of Panchakarma centres, and an Akshi Tarpana pilot programme at NRS Hospital in Vijayawada. These measures are intended to strengthen service delivery at existing AYUSH facilities while improving the infrastructure required for patient care.

The state has sanctioned funds for de-addiction centres and an AYUSH Sports Medicine Centre. These initiatives indicate an expansion of AYUSH services into areas beyond routine outpatient care and traditional hospital services.

The government has also announced allocations for several welfare-oriented programmes, including ₹6.50 crore for the 'Ayur Vidya' programme, ₹62.40 lakh for 'Vayo Mitra', ₹2.05 crore for specialised geriatric care and ₹8.50 lakh for 'Supraja' prenatal and neonatal services. The latest announcement forms part of Andhra Pradesh's broader efforts to expand AYUSH infrastructure. In August 2026, the state had also proposed seeking ₹257 crore from the Central government under the National AYUSH Mission for 2026–27, with plans covering healthcare infrastructure, educational institutions and specialised facilities. The ₹27 crore allocation for six 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals is therefore part of a larger set of measures covering hospital infrastructure, dispensary upgrades, medicines, medical education, specialised services and welfare programmes.
