The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has installed the EP-6000 endoscopy system, described as the first Made-in-India endoscopy system with advanced imaging features to be installed at the institution. The system has been introduced in the Department of Gastroenterology to strengthen endoscopic examination and gastrointestinal diagnostic capabilities.

The EP-6000 was developed by Fujifilm India and manufactured at the company's facility in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. According to the report, Fujifilm India donated the system to the AIIMS Department of Gastroenterology as a goodwill initiative and as part of its support for patients requiring specialized care.

The system is designed to provide enhanced imaging during endoscopic procedures, helping clinicians visualize gastrointestinal structures and identify abnormalities. Its installation is intended to support AIIMS Delhi's existing gastroenterology services, which include diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, polypectomy, EMR, and ESD.

The development also has a medical-device manufacturing dimension. The installation of an endoscopy system manufactured domestically at Fujifilm India's Jodhpur facility reflects the growing focus on domestic production of healthcare technologies. According to the report, the initiative is intended to contribute to reducing dependence on imported medical equipment while expanding access to advanced diagnostic technologies.

AIIMS Director Dr. Nikhil Tandon said the institution has a longstanding focus on advancing patient care through medical technology and clinical innovation. The installation is expected to add to the institute's capabilities in providing specialized gastrointestinal care to patients referred to the tertiary-care center.

The new system becomes part of the broader technology infrastructure at AIIMS New Delhi, which has also recently introduced advanced diagnostic technologies in other clinical areas. The institution previously introduced the Hyperfine Swoop portable MRI system for bedside brain imaging, expanding point-of-care imaging options for critically ill patients.

AIIMS New Delhi's Gastroenterology Department handles a broad range of gastrointestinal investigations and therapeutic interventions. Its existing services include procedures involving the oesophagus, stomach, intestine, biliary and pancreatic systems, as well as advanced interventions such as endoscopic ultrasound and therapeutic endoscopy.

The installation of the Made-in-India endoscopy system therefore combines advanced gastrointestinal imaging with domestic medical-device manufacturing while strengthening the technological capabilities available to clinicians at one of India's major tertiary-care institutions.
